He then stopped publishing until August 1961 , when he began to be employed as a writer and editor at al- Ittihad and al-Jadid . In the latter he published an article , entitled “ On Poetry” , the fi rst of thirty-seven contributions to al-Jadid , in addition to more than two-hundred contributions to al-Ittihad , in the form of poems and prose texts consisting of editorials , articles and reports , which bore clear identifying features that played a role in shaping public opinion among the national Palestinian Arab minority in Israel .
